Downtown DC has become more and more popular with CityCenterDC,  who also sponsored our Fall 2015 trends presentation .Whether you are just window shopping, or you are having a treat yourself day, there are numerous upscale shopping opportunities form Hermes to a Caudalie spa. Also, on your way out don’t forget to get yourself a piece of crack pie form Milk Bar.

Eastern Market is a DC institution with a farmers market that offers a wide array of produce, flowers, baked goods, delicatessen, meats, and much more. With the arts and crafts fair on Saturdays and flea market on Sundays that feature antiques, arts, crafts, and imported goods; there is always something to see.

Union Station

Union Station

The city’s train station, Union Station is home to upscale shops and restaurants. With over 130 stores and numerous restaurants. There is always something to look at. Union Station is also a great place to catch a dinner and movie.

Metro Center

7th St Metro Center

If you are looking for some inexpensive retail therapy Metro Center is where it is at. With staples, such as Zara and H&M, you are sure to find something in style and inexpensive. If you are looking for a bit more luxe, check out Upstairs on 7th where you can get women’s couture fashion and accessories.

14th & U Street

14th&U

There are numerous places to shop at 14th & U street corridor. Redeem is the place to go if you have a more minimalist style. Their clothes are simple, yet unique and upscale for both men and women.  However, if you are shopping for just the men in your life, Whiskey Ginger is the place to stop by. There you can find fashionable men’s clothing and accessories.

Bethesda Row has a unique mix of shopping and good eats. Nando’s anyone? Bethesda Row has everything in one spot. Sportswear, casual wear, to womenswear there is no need to go anywhere else.

Let’s Talk Live Gives Sneak Peak of Upcoming Spring Trends Event

Heather Menis, Marketing & Publicity Chair, was on Let’s Talk Live sharing some spring trends (courtesy of #FGIDCMember Redeem and lovely models of #FGIDCMember T.H.E. Artist Agency) that will be coming up soon, and will be presented at our Spring Trends & Photo Exhibit. The Fashion Group International of Greater Washington D.C. spring trends event will be held at the Warner Theater on Tuesday, February 9th. Marketing, Merchandising and the Business Behind The Boutique

A successful season of #FGIDCWorkshops wrapped up with The Business Behind the Boutique. Brand Strategist & Speaker, Dawne Hanks, took on the often-overlooked concepts of retail merchandising strategies, buying habits and consumer awareness to the forefront of the evening. Her focus on really knowing your consumer and developing your business strategy to work for you and your consumer was a key takeaway of the night.

The audience was full of designers, boutique owners and retail industry professionals. After Dawne’s presentation, the audience got the rare opportunity to hear from a panel of local boutique owners, including Spencer Hurd of Whiskey Ginger, Lori Parkerson of Redeem, Christina Novak of New to You, and Sakina Iskender of Take 5 Boutique. They spoke to their personal experience, success stories and strategies, and how they’ve tested the market to build upon their business and knowing their specific consumer.
