On Tuesday, November 15, 2016 FGIDC hosted their second MEN IN MOTION talk at the Saks Fifth Avenue Men’s Store in Chevy Chase. The talk was paired off with whiskey tasting, snacks, and coffee tasting from Organo. Additionally, over $200 worth of swag that each attendee received from Grooming Lounge, Whiskey Ginger, Switchwood, and Saks Fifth Avenue.
A panel discussion with some of the top leading men in the industry followed, which was, moderated Timothy Lowery, General Manager of CityCenterDC. The panel consisted of Omar Aboudi, Brand Manager of Isaia; Jordan Jackson, Designer Men’s Apparel for Under Armour; Tamon George, Co-Founder of the Creative Theory; and Wafiqu Chowdhury, Garment Manufacturer for Global Garment Sourcing Partners. Question after question from the 60+ attendees indicated FGI struck a chord with the men’s fashion & lifestyle community. There was a real hunger for conversation and action when it came to the needs of the men’s lifestyle sector. Omar Aboudi and Tamon George spoke to the influence that men have in the men’s fashion industry and that “men need a reference point” because they generally don’t follow trends as fast as women. Jordan Jackson also found interesting that his market likes to post and share their outfits on social media. When asked by Timothy Lowery “what is one thing you want everyone to leave with” Wafiqu responded “do you! Do what makes you feel confident and exudes your personal taste.”
